ABOUT NATHAN
Nathan Donnelly hails from the Salish Sea off the coast of Washington where he lives on a small island. He owns and operates a permaculture design business wherein he uses ecological principles to create synergy on his clients’ homesteads. Additionally, he is the crew coordinator for the local youth conservation corps, and teaches nature awareness and survival courses whenever possible. He volunteers for his local oil spill response organization, public lands, and in the efforts to protect the Salish Sea and its orca population.

Nathan Donnelly has been a teacher of outdoor living skills for almost 20 years, permaculture for over 10 years, and disaster preparedness and resilience since 2014.
Nathan learned his love of the outdoors as a young boy and has been obsessed with the wild living world since he could walk, eventually working as a backcountry park ranger, field biologist, farm hand, wildland fire fighter, homesteader, and starting his own Permaculture design business.
Working with his hands has always been important to him. He began working construction with his father when he was 12, returning to the trades periodically for almost 30 years. He is an avid bushcrafter and carver, and has made many shelters, tools, utensils, and some art with nothing but his ax or knife.

Passing on the knowledge developed over eons, and now swiftly disappearing is one of his greatest passions
In the past he has been a wildlife biologist, backcountry park ranger, wildland firefighter, search and rescue team member, builder, outfitter, and homestead caretaker. He is an avid traditional bowhunter, kayak fisherman, backpacker, bushcrafter, mountaineer, and cyclist. In the future he would like to more fully explore teaching survival nature connection, disaster preparedness, and permaculture, hopefully from his own piece of land
